Role of the Communication Champion and Resources
Communication is everybody's responsibility!
The Communication Champion is passionate about the importance of children's communication and language development and recognises how it is a fundamental lifelong skill for learning. They will be responsible for promoting the importance of good language skills in their setting, school or service and will be aware of and promote key resources to support children's communication and language development including:
- Bolton's 5 Golden Rules for Communication
- Early Communication and Language Journey
- Top Tips for speech, language and communication development
Communication Champions will keep themselves and others up to date with local and national news, and research. They can keep up to date by attending the annual Communication Champion Workshop, Start Well Briefings and subscribing to the Early Years Education and Childcare Update

Communication Champions can also attend the Bolton Early Years Community of Practice Network events facilitated by Bolton Start Well. These sessions are hosted by the Bolton Family Hub network and Early Years Practitioners to share some of their practice and show you around. The Community of Practice will have a different focus each term.

The Communication Champion will suppport the embedding of the Communication and Language Pathway and its associated resources in their setting, school, service.
