An Introduction to the WellComm Toolkit for Childminders | 10th March 2021 | 6:30pm - 7:30pm
SKU: 10/03/2021 6:30pm - 7:30pm
Join this interactive online session which is specifically designed for Childminders, to raise awareness of the use and content of the WellComm Toolkit. The toolkit is designed to develop practitioners' skills and confidence in supporting children under 5 years who are at risk of developing speech, language and communication difficulties.
During the session, we will talk about when to use the WellComm Toolkit, in line with the Integrated Early Years Communication and Language Pathway. The session will cover the content of the toolkit including the resources that it contains, the assessment procedure and use of the intervention resources. A member of the Public Health Nursing service will also be available to answer questions regarding how to support the children you have concerns about.
What will I learn?
By the end of this session, you will be familiar with the content of the WellComm Toolkit and know when and how to access support for children experiencing speech, language and communications difficulties. Delegates will also gain an understanding of how to utilise the intervention resources from 'The Big Book of Ideas'.
Delegates will be provided with an overview of how to access the WellComm toolkit across the Bolton borough.
The 'WellComm Speech and Language Toolkit Resource' is a comprehensive assessment and intervention toolkit, which includes:
Screening Tool - including 'Handbook' and 'The Little Book of Rules', enabling early identification of areas of concern within language, communication and interaction development; and
Intervention Resource - including 'The Big Book of Ideas', 'The Picture Book' and 'The Support Language at Home CD'. These resources offer a range of stimulating, fun and play based activities designed to address children's language needs.
