Hear from Emma Spiers, The Learning Lady, expert in early years phonics and reading during this two half-day course which aims to provide support to room leaders working with children aged between 3 and 4 years.
The course will take place at The Bridge Church Bolton, 109 Bradford Street, Haulgh, BL2 1JX.

What will I learn?
Prior to booking your place, please ensure you're available for sessions 1 and 2 to ensure you can complete this course.
The course will include the following content and a practical follow-up task.
Session 1: 23rd October 2023, 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Focus on word recognition
- Where does pre-phonic development start?
- What is phonological development and how does it help pre-schoolers?
- Developing essential rhythm and rhyme using stories, songs, and games
- Looking out for developmental milestones
- Post session tasks included
Session 2: 26th February 2024, 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Focus on language comprehension
- Phonemic development; the final pre-phonic step
- Developing core vocabulary using stories, songs, and games
- Weaving core vocabulary and phonemic awareness through everyday provision
- Reflection and planning for next steps
It is essential that participants attend both sessions in order to complete the course.

Who is this course for?
This 2-part course is aimed at Private Daycare Room Leaders in Bolton working with children from 3-4 years.
The course and supporting resources are fully funded for Bolton early years providers only.

Commitments and Cancellations
In order to maintain best value, we need to run this course on a maximum occupancy basis. If your place is confirmed but you are unable to attend, please send an alternative representative or cancel your place in writing by e-mailing: StartWellBookings@bolton.gov.uk with a minimum of 24 hours' notice.
An administration fee of £25 per person will be charged for the non-attendance of any individual following an online or confirmed telephone booking. These fees will be waived if you send a replacement attendee from your setting to take up your place.
