Description
This in-depth e-learning training is available upon request to access any time.
The training will enable you to explore the essential knowledge and tools to support families and children for whom English is an additional language.
What will I learn?
Participants will be provided with the essential knowledge and activities to support their understanding of how children learn additional languages and will enable them to support EAL learners and their families in setting.
Participants will:
- Learn about how children acquire additional language(s), the brain development and processes involved;
- Learn about key messages and strategies to support EAL learners and their families;
- Gain an awareness of resources to support EAL learners;
- Find out about how to create a welcoming environment and establish a good working relationship with multilingual families; and
- Devise an action plan to support the implementation of strategies within your setting and facilitate sharing this learning with colleagues.

Costs
Fully funded (free) for Bolton early years providers only.
£36 per person for all other authority practitioners.
(Charges will become effective on the date when we issue the booking confirmation and welcome email. All requests to withdraw must be received in writing to StartWellBookings@bolton.gov.uk with the date accepted as the date of the email).

Booking Arrangements

If you are booking on behalf of other members of staff, you must provide individual names and email addresses for each person in the 'Additional Information' section of the booking form to complete registration. Generic email addresses such as manager@, office@ or email addresses in the name of the nursery not the individual will not be accepted.
When registration is complete, a welcome email will be issued and you can then access the E-learning platform here.

Course Delivery
Once enrolled, you can complete this E-learning course anytime, at your own pace.
Please note: to get the most out of this training, delegates will need to allocate at least 1 hour to complete the course. You will be able to stop, start and revisit the modules as and when needed.
On completion of this course, a certificate will be issued automatically.
