Description

This face to face training session will introduce you to the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) assessment tool. The ASQ is the assessment tool used by Public Health Nursing (Health Visitors) as part of the Healthy Child Programme and is a parent-led assessment.

During the session, we will share the purpose of this evidence based assessment tool and explore how and when you could use ASQ. If you already have an ASQ and ASQ-SE pack in your setting but have never used them, please bring them along as we will look at the contents and attempt to score an assessment. If your setting does not have an ASQ pack, you will be allocated one during the session (Bolton early years settings only - strictly one per setting).

What will I learn?

At the end of this training, participants will:

  • Understand how ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE fit with the Early Years Foundation Stage assessments
  • Understand the value of using parent-led evidence-based child development screening tools
  • Understand how the ASQ assessments reinforce the relationships that practitioners have with parents by enabling parents to be more involved in their children’s assessments and learning.
  • Have explored the evidence-based child development screening tools
    • The Ages and Stages Questionnaire - 3 (ASQ-3)
    • The Ages and Stages Questionnaire - Social-Emotional (ASQ-SE)

All Bolton settings and schools have been allocated a fully-funded ASQ pack.  The ASQ resource will be given out to settings that do not already have a copy according to Bolton Start Well records.

***If you already have a resource pack, please bring this to the session***
