EYCLDS - Caroline Stowell

SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST AND TEAM LEADER

Caroline has been a Speech and Language Therapist for 10 years and has worked as a Team Leader within Bolton since 2016. Her previous Speech and Language Therapy roles included preventative work within Sure Start and working in clinics and schools with children presenting with a wide variety of communication and language needs. She works directly with children and families, supporting their identified communication needs within groups and on a one-to-one basis, in addition to providing advice and support for all children within universal settings.

Caroline is keen to share the importance of communication regarding a child’s life chances and the positive impact we can all have in developing children’s communication skills, particularly in the very early years.

She has provided training for parents and professionals over the course of her career and is a licenced Elklan tutor. Within the Start Well service she has developed and delivered a range of training packages focusing on typical communication development as well as advice, strategies and interventions such as the Communication and Language Journey, WellComm toolkit and Introduction to the Role of the Communication Champion.

Caroline has a BA (Hons) in French –Linguistics and MSc in Speech and Language Sciences meaning she has the relevant theoretical background and practical knowledge to effectively support children, and those working with children, with their communication and language development.
