Teacher Profile

EYCLDS - Angela Maher

SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY ASSISTANT

Angela qualified as a Class Teacher in 1999 and went on to teach in the EYFS and KS1, before beginning her career as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant in August 2018.

Angela works with the families of pre-school children with language delay. Angela works alongside and supports the Speech and Language Therapists within the team by observing children and engaging them in play activities, modelling strategies for parents and carers to improve their children’s communication and language skills, and listening to parental concerns and observations.

Angela enjoys working with families on a one to one and group basis, delivering relevant interventions such as Steps to Talking. She also works closely with Start Well Children and Family Workers to deliver digital groups such as Let’s Get Talking.

Angela has a BA (Hons) degree in English Language and a PGCE in General Primary Education, meaning that she has a knowledge and understanding of different aspects of language development and experience in supporting children on their learning journeys.
