Safeguarding: Prevent Training (preventing radicalisation)
Completing Prevent training is part of the government statutory guidance for local authorities and all staff with safeguarding responsibilities such as Designated Safeguarding lead, deputy etc.
Managers should make an assessment as to which training is needed or suitable for their own staff. Not all staff need the same training, so a proportionate view needs to be taken from the menu of training available below.
Tier 1 - Basic: For any member of staff (support / operational / supervisors / managers etc) who just require an awareness and understanding of what Prevent is for their role.
Tier 2 - Intermediate: For Designated Safeguarding Lead or Safeguarding responsibilities requiring a more in-depth knowledge of intervention, procedures and referral processes.
Tier 3 - Advanced: CPD development for those at intermediate level (DSL’s / similar) e.g. trends, focussed issues like ‘far right’ or other identified specific risk.
