Early Years Providers - Operating in Hot Weather

Operating in Hot Weather. Clouds in the sky.

Remember if you change your operating hours during this hot spell, Ofsted need to be informed. You can do this by emailing on enquiries@ofsted.gov.uk

Department for Education (DfE) Education Hub states schools and settings:

  • should remain open and let as many children attend as possible, where safe to do so
  • are a safe place for children during hot weather, as staff can actively monitor pupils, ensure regular hydration, and make adjustments to keep them cool. Children may also not be any cooler at home than in school
  • make sure they take any steps necessary to make sure children are safe and comfortable, and the heat-health alerts can guide this.
