Description

This practical workshop will help you to support children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to develop the physical skills needed to become confident writers and ultimately improve writing outcomes.

As part of the course, you will receive access to a pre-course task which you will need to complete prior to the online interactive Q&A session on the 28th April 2021, 1:00pm - 4:00pm.

The three hour interactive session on 28th April 2021 will provide an opportunity to consolidate learning as well as time to ask any questions that you may have.

What will I learn?

During this session, we will:

  • Explore the effective skills needed to help children to progress along their mark making journey;
  • Recognise the signs of a reluctant writer and barriers to writing development in your setting; and
  • Explore practical ideas to help reluctant writers to engage in an inspiring writing community.

N.B. Delegates will be asked to complete a pre-course task prior to this interactive event which will support the evaluation and audit of your current writing provision.  Following this, there will be an opportunity for a network session to embed the principles and showcase your learning.

To participate fully in this training, it is essential that you have a copy of the Mark Making to Writing Journey resource.  If you do not have a copy in your school/setting, please contact Bolton Start Well by telephone: 01204 338149 to make arrangements to collect a free copy from Harvey Start Well Centre.
