Description

This training is specifically designed for Childminders, to raise awareness of the use and content of the WellComm Toolkit.  The toolkit is designed to develop practitioners' skills and confidence in supporting children under 5 years who are at risk of developing speech, language and communication difficulties.

During the training, we talk about when to use the WellComm Toolkit, in line with the Integrated Early Years Communication and Language Pathway.  The session will cover the content of the toolkit, including the resources that it contains, the assessment procedure and use of the intervention resources.  A member of the Public Health Nursing service will also be available to answer questions regarding how to support the children you have concerns about.

The course uses digital interactive teaching methods and resources, practical activities and group discussions to engage learners.

As part of the course, you will receive access to an in-depth, pre-recorded training video which you will need to view prior to the online interactive Q&A session on the 7th July 2021, 6:30pm - 7:30pm.

The one hour interactive session on 7th July will provide an opportunity to consolidate learning as well as time to ask any questions that you may have.

What will I learn?

Upon completion of this training, you will be familiar with the content of the WellComm Toolkit and know when and how to access support for children experiencing speech, language and communications difficulties.  Delegates will also gain an understanding of how to utilise the intervention resources from 'The Big Book of Ideas'.

Delegates will be provided with an overview of how to access the WellComm toolkit across the Bolton borough.

Resources

The 'WellComm Speech and Language Toolkit Resource' is a comprehensive assessment and intervention toolkit, which includes:
