Course description?
This workshop will be a brief overview of strategies that support practitioners working with children in the early years to help them develop effective communication and language.
What will I learn?
The workshop is designed to develop participant’s knowledge of early communication and language development. It will explore the importance of effective adult-child interaction strategies and how to use them to support children’s communication development.
The course will equip participants with practical ideas for activities to develop listening and attention skills as well as provide an overview of information carrying words.
By the end of this course, you will:
- Have a refreshed knowledge of early communication and language development;
- Understand the importance of effective adult-child interaction strategies and how to use them to support children’s communication development;
- Have practical ideas to develop listening and attention skills; and
- Have an overview of Information Carrying Words.
Who is the workshop for?
This workshop is aimed at SENCos and practitioners working with children aged 2-5 years. It is suitable for Managers, Communication Champions, EYFS Leads, SENCos, Room Leaders and all Early Years Practitioners.

In order to maintain best value, we need to run this course on a maximum occupancy basis. An administration fee of £25 per person will be charged for the non-attendance of any individual following an online or confirmed telephone booking. These fees will be waived if you send a replacement attendee from your setting to take up your place.
