What happens at this session?

This online session is aimed at childminders who are expecting an Ofsted inspection and would like the opportunity to discuss what to expect at inspection. It is an opportunity for childminders to prepare for inspection through reflection and self-evaluation.

How will this session help?

During the session, we will cover the inspection process through discussion and reflection, scrutiny of relevant documentation and signposting to relevant resources including video clips.

We will explore:

  • The Inspection Handbook to know the inspection process and what to expect on the day;
  • The grade descriptors;
  • Good practice examples;
  • The importance of risk assessments, self-evaluation and action planning; and
  • Other relevant documentation and legislation impacting on childminders eg COVID-19.

This professional development session is aimed at newly registered childminders and childminders who are due an Ofsted inspection.

Course Delivery

This is an online session and access is via Microsoft Teams.

Once you sign up for the course, you will be sent a welcome email with a link to join the session.  This link is intended for you only and should not be shared, copyright applies.

Please note, you can access Microsoft Teams via a tablet, computer or smart phone device and you can join as a guest if you do not have an account.  Alternatively, the Teams app can be downloaded for free onto a smart device prior to the event from the App Store or Google Play.

We will make the slides available, together with the responses to questions, as soon as possible.
