Description

This is a brand-new professional development opportunity for EYFS Teachers, EYFS Leaders, PVI staff and Childminders across Greater Manchester.

Local data continues to show a gap between boys and girls in early communication and language development. These two half-day sessions, designed in partnership with Michelle Morris (Clinical Lead for Speech and Language, GMCA), will explore what current research tells us and, more importantly, how we can strengthen practice in our own settings.

Across the two sessions, we’ll look at:

  • Key research on boys’ communication and language development
  • How to create language-rich, purposeful learning environments
  • The essential role of the adult in modelling language and extending vocabulary
  • Practical interaction strategies you can use straight away

Although the focus is on boys, the approaches shared will support all children’s communication and language.

To conclude the training series, you’re invited to join our online Showcase of Practice, bringing practitioners together to share how the training has made a real impact. Hosted by Andy Burt, this webinar will include short presentations from settings across the sector, highlighting practical changes, successful strategies, and the difference these have made to boys’ communication and language, and to children more widely.
