Course Booking Page

In 2022, we established a new Early Education Improvement Group. We are now looking to grow representation from the Private, Voluntary and Independent sector to work with leaders from Primary Schools.

We are looking for three experienced Early Years Managers, one from each district across the borough (North, South and West), who can feedback and consult with other providers locally and contribute to strategic discussions to improve Early Years Outcomes in Bolton.

The Early Education Improvement Group Purpose:

To ensure National and Local policy, strategies and initiatives concerning EYFS, is fully considered within the Bolton context.  The group will provide expert insight, advice and challenge to address priorities in Early Education, with the ambition to enable children to reach their potential and endeavour to be school ready.

The group will provide representation from different sectors across the Borough’s districts. There will be support from the Council’s Start Well Service to ensure the LA is meeting its statutory duty in terms of early education and childcare and to meet the Actions in Bolton Children and Young People’s Plan.

Areas of focus will be:

  • Statutory EYFS - Teaching and Learning; Assessment and Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements
  • Sufficiency and sustainability of quality childcare places
  • Increasing take up of the funded early years entitlement
  • Improving outcomes for all early years children, closing the gap in performance for the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile between all children and the lowest 20%
  • Ensuring children with SEND and all other eligible (2yo and 3-4yo funded) children have access to their total number of funded hours in quality early years provision
  • Building positive working relationships across services to benefit local families

If you have the following qualities:

  • An experienced Early Years Manager in a Bolton setting
  • Able to represent and communicate with other providers locally and actively share information
  • Have a keen interest in National and Local policy linked to Early Years
  • Can contribute to strategic discussions
  • Can commit to regular attendance at online or face to face meetings (meetings are to be held every 6 weeks until established then move to 3 times per year)

Then please complete the expression of interest form.

Please complete your expression of interest by: Friday 22nd September (prior to the next meeting which will be held early October).

If you have further questions, email startwell@bolton.gov.uk  or telephone 01204 338149 with Early Education Improvement Group in the subject header.
