Shine a Light Awards 2019

The seventh “Shine a Light Awards” are now open for entries and nominations. The Awards are seeking to recognise outstanding schools, teams, young people and individuals in the UK who champion innovative work and excellent practice in supporting children and young people’s communication development. Applications close on 09 January 2019.

We are proud of our strong schools, settings and Communication Champions in Bolton, so please send in your entries and nominations before applications close at 11:59pm on 09 January 2019. The Shine a Light Awards ceremony will take place in London on Thursday 21st March 2019.

There are 12 categories to enter, which are:

  • The Katie Rough Memorial Award for innovative or excellent practice when working with children and young people affected by Selective Mutism
  • Early Years Setting of the Year Award
  • Primary School of the Year Award
  • Secondary School or College of the Year Award
  • SEN School or Group of the Year Award
  • Child / Young Person of the Year Award
  • Youth Justice of the Year Award
  • SLCN Innovation of the Year Award
  • Communication Champion of the Year Award
  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication of the Year Award
  • Outstanding Achievement Award
  • Journalist of the Year Award – New!

Entries/nominations can be submitted in one of the following two formats:

  • Written application of no more than 1,000 words (word count may vary, please refer to word allocation for each question)
  • Video application lasting no longer than 5 minutes, with a 250-word supporting statement.
